The Fleet Community Project

Residents enjoy a day trip

Supporting One Another

At our care home in Devon, we often have Coffee mornings and fundraisers that we invite our local community to join.

Recently, we decided to pop down into our local area of Dartmouth as the sun was finally shining to support our very own Yvonne with a fundraiser that she was supporting.

Yvonne works closely with 'The Dartmouth Indoor Pool', which is located in Avenue Gardens and was raising money for the community pool. We took a few of our residents down to support her and while we were there they all enjoyed browsing around the stalls, eating some homemade cakes and some even had a go at some putting.

An Evening of Gardening

When we returned home, a few of our residents took part in a gardening evening. We invited some friends and family to help us pot some plants and tend to our raised flower beds in our landscaped gardens as part of our community project.

We encourage all of our residents to spend time with their loved ones as much as possible as well as socialising with one another. One of the main benefits of moving into a residential care home is the opportunity to form relationships with similar individuals to you as well as minimising the feeling of loneliness as much as possible, which many elderly people face.

We cannot wait to watch the flowers and new relationships flourish over the coming months and we look forward to hosting more events like this and hope our local community will also join in.
