Residents Get Musical
Every 2nd Thursday of the month, residents and staff at The Fleet Care Home are blessed to have a performance from Patrick Jervis - Entertainer and today was a delight! Residents were singing and dancing and there was lots of additional interaction from the instruments including tambourines.
Music is so engaging with our residents and we adore it here at The Fleet! A few requests of Dolly Parton and Chatanooga choo choo were played by Patrick.
There are so many benefits of incorporating music, singing, dancing, and playing instruments within our home. Music has been shown to be an effective tool in reducing stress and anxiety in elderly individuals. Listening to soothing music can help promote relaxation and a sense of calm, which can have a positive impact on mental health.
In addition to listening to music, actively engaging in singing, dancing, and playing instruments can also offer numerous benefits for older people. Singing and dancing can help improve cardiovascular health, increase energy levels, and promote social interaction between residents.
Playing instruments can also be beneficial, as it can help improve hand-eye coordination, promote cognitive function, and offer a sense of accomplishment and mastery. Incorporating music and related activities within our care home has a positive impact on our residents' physical, emotional, and social well-being.
The men giving it the big thumbs up and all the ladies singing along is the only approval we need to see that Patrick always goes down well!
A big thank you to Patrick who never fails to put a smile on residents' faces and liven up the home. We look forward to your next visit!
