Making Boats For The Royal Regatta
Residents at The Fleet enjoyed one of our arts & crafts sessions last week. One of the activities involved creating colourful miniature boats from scratch that can float on water, to create our own little boat race. Some of our residents also made hanging ornaments for the garden which were decorated with objects you'd find by the sea such as seagulls, boats, crabs and shells.
We had a red, white and blue table spread in the garden ready for afternoon tea and a glass of bubbly. We also enjoyed live entertainment and residents were given tambourines to tap along to the beat.
Dartmouth is a beautiful seaside town in South Devon and an incredible backdrop to the Port of Dartmouth where the Royal Regatta takes place every August. The Port is steeped in history, as is the event. The Dartmouth Regatta is the oldest in the country and the earliest recorded Regatta was in 1822 with 2019 being the 175th Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta to occur.
The Dartmouth Regatta will take place between 24th-27th August 2022. It's a fantastic event for locals as well as visitors to be a part of the lively atmosphere with lots to see and do, from live music, a river parade, kid-friendly activities, food stalls, shopping and races on the water.
