Egg-citing Hatchings

Egg-citing Hatchings at The Fleet Care Home

We have just taken delivery of 7 duck eggs at The Fleet Care Home in Dartmouth.

There was so much excitement around the home as both residents and staff were waiting for these little eggs to hatch. We are hoping for all 7 to hatch but anything over 2 will be an achievement we think!

So far they have spent a few days snug and warm in their incubator and will hopefully be seeing them hatch in the 1st week of April. We currently have all of our staff and residents on hand to be keeping a regular eye on them. We might even hear them before we see them!

Once hatched we are looking at inviting a few well-behaved children from a local school to the home so that they can also enjoy this experience along with all staff and the ladies and gents at The Fleet.

Despite it being half term we have emailed the local schools to get them involved and if any toddler groups are still running next week we'd love to get a group of little ones to come and say hello to some baby ducks. We even have some paddling pools set up so the ducks can be seen swimming.

We can't wait to see what the next few days have in store for the eggs. For regular updates, head to The Fleet's Facebook page.
