A Visit From Lakemoor Alpacas

Lakemoor Alpaca Visit to Care Home residents

We had a fantastic time recently when Lakemoor Alpacas visited the residents, relatives and staff here at The Fleet Care Home in Dartmouth.

We spent a good few hours with the lovely alpacas, Beau and Wayfarer, who came and got treated to strokes and fed with carrots by our residents.

This activity was inclusive for all of our residents, as we took the alpacas around all three floors and into everyone's bedroom who wanted a visit.

It was truly a wonderful morning and brought so many smiles to our resident's faces. It was great to also learn about these two boys who are only two years old and are the best of friends.

Lakemoor Alpacas have 29 Alpacas currently as they have just had some babies. They will remain with mum for around 6 months and eventually, they might gain the confidence to venture out into care settings or other events.

We were very lucky that we got to feel some of the Alpaca wool and just how soft of a blanket it was. We take pride in providing residents with a variety of activities and opportunities, and this one truly was engaging as well as a wonderful sensory activity for our residents. We look forward to welcoming Lakemoor Alpacas back again soon.
